Economic history and escapeism
Its said that economic low points breed escapism. They use the example of the great depression. Our current low point in the markets is a bit different. During the great depression the only entertainment venues were fairs, and more predominately the local cinemas. The local movie theatres had revenue increase during the depression. However nowadays their are many other outlets for our distraction and diversions. Most people I talk to don't go out to the movies much because its cost is so high. Its much cheaper to go out and get something on DVD. Not even these savings are enough for our current situation that is why we look for places to get things for closer to what the manufacturing costs. That is why I am going to do some research into DVD and game wholesalers. Not paying the retail markups is enough incentive for me to start looking and sharing the information I can.
